Hamburg has been known for centuries as the "gateway to the world." Its famous harbor, one of the biggest harbors in the world, is both an economical center and a tourist attraction. The city is an international hub for the civil aerospace industry and an important location for the German media industry. With its 1.7 million inhabitants, the city state is the second largest city in Germany and the commercial and cultural center of Northern Germany.
A landmark building in the Chilehaus, the most famous address in the business quarter Hansa, is the home of BCG's office in Hamburg. Its pointed façade resembles a ship's hull, and evokes the city's rich history in the Hanseatic League. Founded in 1994, about 150 consultants and administrative staff currently work in our Hamburg office.
As many of our clients are international companies, all consultants are fluent not only in English, but often also in other languages. Many consultants have earned degrees from German universities: business administration in addition to fields such as engineering, natural sciences, or humanities. Others earned their M.B.A.s from well-known business schools such as Harvard, Stanford, or INSEAD. Thanks to its diversity of people and a great working atmosphere, BCG regularly ranks as one of the most popular employers in Germany.
