Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur founded in 1992

Overview

Since opening in 1992, BCG in Kuala Lumpur has outgrown two locations and is now based in the city’s Golden Triangle area, within walking distance of the Petronas Twin Towers. The office consists of young, dynamic team members who are driven to help shape businesses and the market, creating impact for the firm’s clients.

Kuala Lumpur is one of five offices in Southeast Asia, and Kuala Lumpur-based consultants work on projects throughout the region. This office and the other SEA offices in Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, and Singapore work together as an integrated system with constant interaction among regional colleagues, sharing opportunities to transfer among those offices and BCG offices globally and to gain hands-on experience with a diverse mix of clients.

The client portfolio includes leading companies in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, multinational corporations, and key public-sector agencies. BCG Kuala Lumpur has helped its clients put in place structural changes that have played a key role in the development of Malaysia’s economy.

Kuala Lumpur’s success is underpinned by an ability to attract and retain the best people. We recruit across the world and offer opportunities for dynamic and rewarding professional careers. Our staff includes individuals with eclectic backgrounds ranging from investment banking to law, engineering, and the arts. To enrich life outside of work, the BCG SEA staff organize social gatherings, events, and outings that feature a strong local flavor.

Social Impact

The Kuala Lumpur office's Social Impact agenda has been shaped by passionate BCGers who focus on creating sustainable partnerships with local education and youth empowerment organizations to create sustained community impact.

BCG KL works closely with Teach For Malaysia, a not-for-profit committed to end education inequity in Malaysia by placing high-achieving Malaysian graduates (Fellows) in disadvantaged schools to teach for two years to transform student outcomes. BCG supported the organisation's start up and continues to actively support Fellows by conducting training workshops on problem-solving, communication and impact articulation, and consultants volunteering to mentor Fellows for their community projects and alumni interview skills.

The office has also supported Click! Camp 2014, a series of nationwide educational camps that aims to reach hundreds of underserved youth in rural schools to develop leadership skills, foster a sense of social responsibility, and inculcate entrepreneurial thinking. The initiative is run in partnership with the US Embassy Malaysia and BCG Kuala Lumpur participated as a strategic partner, mentoring the student finalists to develop and present their projects during the final competition.

Staff also collaborate to organise volunteer events with local charities, such as taking the children of the Good Samaritan Home out for an educational field trip to KidZania, an interactive edutainment centre where children learn through role play. In addition, the office has a 'Smart Donation' campaign (Give As You Earn), where funds are matched dollar for dollar by BCG and channelled to local charities nominated by office staff. Most recently, the Kuala Lumpur office coordinated a region-wide BCG donation drive for the Malaysian flood relief efforts through MERCY Malaysia.
