Upon opening, BCG Paris became the fourth office in The Boston Consulting Group's global network. As one of BCG's largest offices, it has enjoyed an impressive annual growth rate over the last decade, fueled predominantly by a strong record in client retention.
In fact, the better part of BCG Paris' revenue comes from their many long-standing client relationships. Continuing client development also provides strong penetration in top French companies in varied industries, providing services that range from corporate development and organizational effectiveness to organizational change and general and IT strategy work.
At BCG Paris, the staff is highly skilled and experienced, and yet as a group, the team is young. The average age is under 30 years old, contributing to the dynamic atmosphere of the office. BCG Paris invests in its people through a significant commitment to local training. In addition to worldwide and regional training, a new associate or consultant may expect a full month of training during his or her first year alone.
BCG Paris actively participates in the Ambassador Program, a worldwide office staff exchange program, typically exchanging three or more second-year consultants with other offices around the world each year. In recent years, Paris ambassadors have gone to Germany, the United States, and Australia.
To maintain team spirit, BCG Paris hosts weekly and monthly events including office meetings, an annual three-day outing, and a Christmas party. They also participate in athletic and cultural activities together: tennis, skiing, sailing, soccer, and opera or local museum visits.

- Operational efficiency improvement—This project focused on helping a major electricity generation operator radically improve operations performance at a production facility. We first benchmarked the level of site performance versus other sites at the same company. Then, we challenged and supported the local management to define and perform analysis of 15 possible improvement options and design the related implementation plans. The potential for enhancement amounted to 10 percent of the site cost base. As a result of this initiative, the site was ranked among our client's sites top performers.
- Operational Management of the Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur Competition—Our office partners with the national edition of the Schwab Foundation's Social Entrepreneur of the Year competition. The initiative aims to identify and select the most talented social entrepreneurs—those that respond to societal needs within a highly efficient organization with a promising business model. The Foundation helps these individuals access an invaluable business network that will help further their cause.
Schwab uses a set of criteria to identify these social entrepreneurs such as innovation, sustainability, and social impact, among others. Once identified, BCG Paris then helps review the applications and create a shortlist of the top 12 finalists. A due diligence process complete with interviews singles out the 5 finalists. Finally, a high-profile jury will elect the Social Entrepreneur of the Year. The Paris office's support goes beyond analysis and organization to organizing the award ceremony and providing pro-bono services to the winner.
