As a strategic partner of the World Economic Forum, BCG joined more than 2,600 global leaders for the 2013 Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. Focusing on the theme of "resilient dynamism," this year's event explored such wide-ranging topics as returning the global economy to a path of robust growth, improving international relations, and exploring how organizations can adapt their business models to social and technological changes.
Among the highlights of the week was CEO Rich Lesser's participation in a televised public panel, "China 2020: Visions Meets Reality," which explored key issues facing the nation, including tackling environmental degradation, ensuring sustained economic growth, and strengthening the "social safety net."
We also kicked off of our 50th anniversary celebration at a reception for clients, alumni, and friends. This event featured a speech by Stefan Larsson on our work in value-based health care and the launch of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM)—a not-for-profit organization cofounded by BCG to facilitate the advancement of value-based health care globally.
BCG cohosted an event with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to explore the Asian consumer opportunity—a hot topic that we also examined closely in The $10 Trillion Prize. Another event, on digital game-changers, featured a conversation on the future of digital with Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post), Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia), and senior executives from Google, Qualcomm, and Salesforce.com.
