I am a political science expert by education, and most of my career so far was devoted to social and political activities. So, when I decided to move on to business, the internship at BCG turned out to be a perfect fit, allowing for a smooth transition from the world of non-government organisations and political parties to enhancing the products offered by a bank.
It is true that strategy consulting is a hard and demanding profession. At the same time, it is extremely challenging and rewarding for those who stand up to the challenge. And above all, it is never boring, with every day different, and each allowing you to learn something new.
During my internship I went from drafting financial analyses to visiting bank branches and co-operating with a market research agency. I also participated in business meetings, including those with directors and management board members, which shows the level of trust that was placed in me.
Of course, at all times I could count on help and good advice from my colleagues. As someone told me, “You get for free at BCG what others would pay millions to get elsewhere”.
There is no doubt that I learnt a lot during my internship at BCG. I mean not only the tools required for the consulting profession or a deeper understanding of an industry, but also a fuller view of one’s own potential and the chance to develop it towards excellence. In that respect the internship exceeded my expectations and BCG turned out to be a true “business university”, allowing me to clearly see and understand its mechanisms.
