Social Impact International Programs

Our relationships with global social impact organizations allow us to offer our consultants a special opportunity to truly make a difference in the world.

Social Impact Secondment program

As a participant in our Social Impact Secondment program, you typically spend six to 12 months working with one of our global partners.  BCG social impact secondees join the partner organization, developing the perspective of what it is like to work on the inside. Through this opportunity, you will be able to expand your own skill set while helping to meet tangible, critical goals to help those most in need. As a social impact secondee, you also maintain your connection to BCG, no matter where in the world your assignment takes you.

Over the years, BCG secondees have worked on high-impact projects with our global partners, the United Nations World Food Programme and Save the Children. In these roles, you could find yourself working anywhere from Laos to London!

Social Impact Leaves of Absence

Beyond the Social Impact Secondment program, BCG will also help you find opportunities to work with other non-profit organizations on a leave-of-absence basis. In recent years, our consultants have taken Social Impact Leaves of Absence with organizations ranging from TechnoServe to the Clinton Health Access Initiative to Endeavor.

Social Impact Immersion Program

We have also introduced a Social Impact Immersion program, which is designed to give those interested a deeper social-impact experience at BCG while further developing their expertise. Participants in this program are staffed for nine to 12 months on projects with our global and local social impact clients, and they may also have the opportunity to lead a local social impact project from their home office.

BCG Client Secondments

Additionally, BCG client secondments offer you the chance to work at a client company—to understand what it is like "on the other side of the table." We fully support these assignments, which typically last about a year or more, and they can be inside or outside your home office country. You can take on a wide range of jobs in client businesses while, at the same time, maintaining your links to BCG colleagues and drawing on BCG for assistance.

And the great part about any of these secondment opportunities is that you will be able to smoothly transition back to BCG when your assignment is complete. The experience you gain through this work will be extremely valuable as you return to traditional consulting work and continue to shape your career.
