Michael Anstey

Principal, Consultant Recruiting Director

Michael Anstey is a Principal in the Toronto office and a Core Member of BCG’s Health Care Practice Area. He has deep expertise in the sector through his experience in research and academia, venture capital investing, and strategy consulting. During his time at BCG, he has served clients throughout North America, Europe, India, and Japan. Prior to joining BCG, Michael was an Investment Analyst and Kauffman Fellow at Oxford Capital Partners, a UK-based venture capital firm that specializes in investing in early-stage science and technology businesses. Before Oxford Capital, Michael was an academic researcher in the field of neuroscience at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. He has authored papers published in a number of leading academic journals including Current Biology and Science. Michael graduated with a 1st Class Honors degree in Biology from Queen’s University, Canada and earned his PhD in Zoology from Oxford University where he was the Hope Scholar.

Alex Melnik

Consultant, Toronto

Alexandr joined BCG as a Consultant in September 2015 after earning an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.  Since joining BCG in 2015, Alexandr has worked with clients in financial services, retail and mining.

Prior to BCG, he worked for 8 years at Kenaidan Contracting, a general contractor operating in the Greater Toronto Area. While at Kenaidan, Alexandr held multiple positions and was involved in many civil and infrastructure projects; acquiring skills in field engineering, construction operations, estimating, project management and financial accounting. Besides his MBA, Alexandr also holds a CMA / CPA designation, and has received an International BBA from the Schulich School of Business. During his undergrad, he spent 6 months on exchange at EDHEC in Nice, France. Outside of work, Alexandr enjoys practicing martial arts, learning foreign languages and traveling.

Brad Baker

Principal, Associate Recruiting Director

Brad Baker is a Principal and also the Recruiting Director for the Associate cohort for the Toronto office. Brad first joined BCG as a Summer Associate in the Toronto office in 2006 and returned as a Full-Time Associate in July 2007. Brad's project experience within BCG has been focused in consumer goods and large scale transformation and re-organization efforts. Prior to joining BCG, Brad worked with Canadian brand management and direct marketing firms, representing a number of global consumer brands. Brad graduated from the Honours Business Administration program at the Richard Ivey School of Business where he was an Ivey Scholar, and earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management where he graduated with honors, Beta Gamma Sigma. Brad was also a member of the varsity squash team at the University of Western Ontario.

Jawad Shujaatali

Associate, Toronto

Jawad joined the Toronto office as an Associate in August 2015, after spending a summer at BCG the previous year. He is an alumnus of the Schulich School of Business at York University, graduating with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with a focus on finance and economics. During his undergrad, he also worked in PwC’s Assurance and Risk and Controls practices. At BCG, Jawad’s case experience has spanned financial services, retail, telecom, and airlines. Outside of work, Jawad likes to travel, and recently spent time touring Turkey. He is also an avid soccer and basketball fan!

Jette Tam

Recruiting Associate

Jette joined BCG Toronto in September 2013 as a Recruiting Associate, and currently looks after the recruiting efforts of Associate and Consultant candidates in Ontario. Previous to joining BCG, Jette was a Talent Acquisition Specialist with Michael Page International, recruiting for a variety of different clients in consumer goods, retail, industrial, and professional services across Canada. During her time with Michael Page, Jette has experience in hiring contract roles to executive level positions. Jette holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts double majoring in Employment Relations and English from University of Toronto, and continued to obtain a Masters in Human Resources and Industrial Relations (MIRHR), also from University of Toronto. In her spare time, Jette loves to travel, listen to music, and discover new restaurants.

Lawrence Kuo

Recruiting Partner

Lawrence Kuo is a Partner in BCG’s Toronto office. He joined the firm as an Associate in 1999 after working as a Mechanical Design Engineer at a startup in the Silicon Valley. Since joining BCG, Lawrence has developed strategies to enhance growth, drive operational efficiency and restructure organizations. He has also managed client relationships across telecom, media, consumer goods and pharmaceuticals. In 2007, Lawrence left BCG and joined Rogers Communications. Lawrence first joined the strategy group at Rogers as the Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Planning. In this role, he worked to develop and implement key strategic initiatives across the Wireless, Cable and Media companies. Lawrence subsequently held the position of Vice President, Video Product Management where he was responsible for delivering $1.9B in video revenue. After spending almost 6 years with Rogers, Lawrence returned to BCG as a Principal in 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University, a Master of Science from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia University. When not at work, Lawrence enjoys running, skiing, playing piano and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
