My background is in computer engineering, so I am deeply interested in dealing with problems, in using logic to design effective solutions. At the same time, I love to interact with people—to see all those around me growing, succeeding, and unlocking their potential. At BCG, I have been able to unite my passions. Along with extremely talented people, I have helped companies tackle super-complex problems. At the same time, I have seen people flourishing—and I have flourished myself, redefining my limits day after day. About Eduardo

Eduardo holds a computer engineering degree from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.

Q: What did you learn in your first year on the job?

A: I learned that people are the cornerstone of successful change—much more important than ideas and frameworks to improve companies or organizations. At the end of the day, the most brilliant ideas will be (or will not be!) implemented and executed by people. BCG does an extraordinary job engaging people from the top to the bottom of the pyramid, ensuring buy-in and creating lasting improvements for our clients. Our clients are frequently impressed with our ability to engage with the entire organization as if we were part of it. This skill is at the core of BCG’s DNA.

Q: What’s the biggest impact you have had with your work?

A: I was part of a team assigned to redefining the workforce planning process for a very large oil company, with more than 100,000 employees under scope. We brought an entirely new approach to workforce planning—and our exercise yielded billions in savings and a sharper, more precise deployment of people across the organization. More important, we helped change the mind-set of many, many line managers—with an increased focus on performance and productivity.

Q: If you weren’t working at BCG, what would you be doing?

A: I would like to be a teacher! I love to see people growing and to be able to share my knowledge—although limited—with others. At BCG, I have always devoted time to helping my colleagues figure out solutions to complex problems. I have had the opportunity to coach younger team members and know how great it is to see people growing and flourishing under my guidance.
