Damien Is an Imaginative Innovator

Partner & Managing Director, Melbourne

At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Damien connects the dots to see the bigger picture.

At BCG, I enjoy the opportunity to work with diverse and engaging clients to create impactful change with the support of talented and driven colleagues.

In Damien’s Words

Before BCG, I worked in executive and management roles in public and private-equity-owned media and telecommunications businesses and advised private equity firms and their portfolio companies. I also spent time in consumer goods sales and marketing roles at Schweppes and Nestlé.

During that time, I worked across Australia, Asia, Europe, and the UK. I was a frequent client of consulting services and worked a lot with BCG. I had been curious for some years about whether I would enjoy consulting and be any good at it.

I joined BCG as a project leader in 2010 and have been delighted to work alongside many BCGers whom I worked with as a client. I have had the opportunity to work across a range of industries and clients and have enjoyed the learning and challenge that come with a career change.

About Damien

Damien holds a bachelor of arts/bachelor of business (marketing) from Monash University, Australia.

Q: What international experiences at BCG have been the most interesting for you?

A: I supported an Australian and a US organization create a joint venture across Australia, Asia, and the Middle East with operations in 14 countries. It was a fantastic and memorable experience to help bring two organizations with different cultures together across a broad range of countries.

Q: What inspires you about BCG?

A: I find BCG such an inspiring place to work. BCGers are so driven and motivated to ensure impact in whatever they do. Whether it is helping clients and client organizations achieve new levels of performance, supporting social impact initiatives with passion and dedication, or the daily drive to be challenged and improve. It is inspiring to be in such an environment and surrounded by an impressive group of people—who also happen to be fun and great to be around.

Q: What’s your home office environment like?

A: I admit to being a bit biased here, but I think the Melbourne office has a very special culture. It is small enough that everyone knows each other while being large enough to contain a very diverse collection of people. Everyone is very caring and supportive of one another and can always find the time for a chat. There is a strong culture of Friday night drinks, and no one takes themselves too seriously.
