At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Alejandra connects the dots to see the bigger picture.
I learned at BCG that the only way to know your limits is by constantly challenging them. I have been amazed in the time I´ve worked here to see how far my limits can truly go.
I joined BCG after three years in consulting, working for a local firm that specialized in sustainability and social innovation. There, I worked mostly with public entities and social organizations focusing on innovative strategies to increase their impact. I always knew I wanted a job where my actions inspired change, and I was excited to learn how BCG could be a platform for that.
After a couple of months, I knew I was at the right place. Working with some of the most important companies in the country, my actions had a clear impact. In the time I’ve been here, I’ve been able to work with one of the largest companies in the country on a project to transform its strategy and operations; I’ve worked with people from Spain to Dubai on culture redefinitions and change management; and I’ve participated in social impact projects that have contributed to the country's child welfare strategy. It's great to know I work at a place where I can inspire change, and I'm excited to see all I will accomplish.
Alejandra has a bachelor of science and a bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, from American University in Washington DC. Prior to BCG, she worked as a consultant at Compartamos con Colombia, a local firm specializing in sustainability and social innovation.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: I chose BCG because of the people. From the first time I came to the office for interviews, everyone was extremely friendly. During the process I met consultants, principals, and partners, all enthusiastic, driven, warm, and genuinely interested in getting to know me. After only a few interactions, I knew it was where I wanted to work.
Q: What is a typical day like for you?
A: A typical day for me starts at the client's headquarters. We work very closely with clients so most of the morning is spent in workshops and small meetings, working hand in hand as one team. In the afternoon, I go back to the office, usually have lunch with coworkers, and work on my deliverables. I try to leave room twice a week for exercising and going out with friends and family at night.
Q: What are some of your volunteer or charitable work experiences?
A: My previous job was with a consulting firm focused on sustainability and social innovation. There, I worked mostly on entrepreneurship projects aimed at overcoming extreme poverty. Now at BCG, I participate in the implementation of such projects. It’s very exciting!
