Margarida Is a Transformative Storyteller

Project Leader, Lisbon

At BCG, Storytellers synthesize complex information and ideas. They believe in bringing the whole team together to get a broader perspective. Margarida seeks a new perspective.

BCG taught me never to be afraid off challenges. Challenges are what keep you growing.

In Margarida’s Words

I was trained as a lawyer and worked as a tax lawyer for five years. Seeking a career change, I did an MBA and, after that, BCG gave me the opportunity to completely change my professional life. It was actually a leap of faith both for BCG and me: for BCG, I was the first lawyer they ever hired in Portugal; for me, it was a completely new life and work structure. I believe it worked well for both parties!

I've been at BCG for six years, and I've done all the career steps up to project leader. I evolved as a professional and as a person and, not in a single moment, doubted my choice. BCG continues to challenge me, provide huge growth opportunities, and contribute clearly every single day to building a better version of myself. Even in tough times (and we have those!), it's totally worth the effort.

Finally, BCG has also given me great friends. Among the fantastic people we have, I found some friends who, I believe, will continue to be part of my life even if one day BCG is not.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: There are three great things about my job: one, the opportunity to work with very bright and self-motivated people; two, the diversity of cases and clients; and three, the real possibility of having an impact on society by changing the business status quo.

Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?

A: When I went to a summer party! After a summer party at BCG, either you run away quickly or you know you are a BCGer.

Q: How do you maintain a sustainable career balance at BCG?

A: The work always has to be done, but it doesn't matter where. I always try to be home for dinner and continue working after dinner. Not easy, but better than not seeing my kids!
