Raminder

In Raminder’s Words

My background is in neuroscience and pharmacology, which I studied through my doctoral research at McGill University. I loved my research, but I wanted an opportunity to work in different industries and on various problems while continuing to learn.

At BCG, I have had the opportunity to do a variety of cases not only in different industries (such as health care and financial services) but also in function (strategy and people and organization). Every case I’ve had has been exciting; each case has pushed me to learn and grow in different ways!

The extraordinary thing about BGC is that everyone has a voice, no matter whether you have been here for 1 day or 20 years. It gives our people a level of empowerment and commitment to the case that drives value for our clients.

About Raminder

Q&A

Q: What international experiences have been the most interesting for you?

A: My first case was in India! I had been there a few times but never lived there. I loved embedding myself in a city for a few months and really getting to know the place. I got to come home to Montréal a few times, and when I didn’t return home I traveled to different cities across India. It was a great experience!

Q: How do you maintain a sustainable career balance at BCG?

A: An important part of our job is to feel fulfilled not only in our careers but in our personal lives. In order to make this career balanced for me, I firmly believe in taking control over my time and work, communicating my needs and constraints, and teaming to find solutions that work for everyone (the client, the team, and myself).

Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?

A: I have been most surprised by how much BCG positively empowers our associates and consultants. BCG really does have a flat hierarchy, which means that not only are you encouraged to express your opinions but your opinions are heard.
