BCG has long been a supporter of LGBT workplace inclusion, globally and locally. In Australia we actively recruit top LGBT talent and provide a supportive environment for every employee to become a leader for positive change. BCG’s LGBT Network offers you extensive career-development support and networking opportunities to connect with and learn from fellow LGBT professionals.

In Australia and New Zealand, BCG is a Strategic Sponsor of Out for Australia, a mentoring not-for-profit for aspiring LGBT professionals, and we are a supporter of marriage equality. Whether you choose to be public or private about your sexuality or gender identity, BCG provides the support you need to grow as a person and as a professional.

BCG has long led by example in our efforts to create an inclusive environment for our LGBT employees:

  • In 1994, we were one of the first companies to offer benefits to employees with same-sex partners.
  • In 1998, the LGBT Network (LGBTN) was formed. LGBTN is open to all BCG employees, with three levels of membership based on each member’s personal level of comfort with being “out.”
  • In 2011, BCG introduced tax equalization for health care benefits paid to the partners of same-sex employees. This offer applies to same-sex partners, regardless of their marital status, in states such as New York that have legalized same-sex marriage. Following this rollout, in 2012, BCG added gender transition support for transsexual employees to every employee's health benefits package.
  • In 2015, BCG joined 378 other organizations in an employer amicus brief to the US Supreme Court, urging for full marriage equality in the United States.
  • In 2016, Tom Wurster, former senior partner and cofounder of BCG's LGBT Network, founded the first LGBT Executive Leadership Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business
