Jim Hemerling on Corporate Culture

Jim Hemerling is a leader in The Boston Consulting Group’s People & Organization and Transformation practices and leads the firm’s behavior and culture topic worldwide. He previously served as coleader of BCG's Global Advantage practice and managing director of BCG's presence in Greater China.

Jim became a Fellow in 2014. His research focuses on creating high-performance organizations. Clients increasingly look for help not just with short-term results but with transforming their organization in a holistic, sustainable way. The latter, which is the focal point of his fellowship, involves creating a change in performance across growth, innovation, talent, capabilities, productivity, and culture.

Since joining BCG, Jim has worked extensively with clients in the technology, consumer, financial services, and manufacturing industries on strategy, operations, organizational and transformation challenges.

He is the coauthor of the BCG book Globality: Competing with Everyone from Everywhere for Everything. He has coauthored columns for Bloomberg Businessweek and has been featured in Businessweek, Fortune, the Economist, Manager magazine, and on CNBC.

Prior to joining BCG, Jim worked as an engineer and operations supervisor.
