I am passionate about making things happen, something that I pursued as an undergrad working with an innovative junior company and also in an entrepreneurial role in engineering consulting before joining BCG's São Paulo office in 2008. Year after year, BCG has been able to fuel my desire to generate real impact in businesses and society in relevant topics, from a major capex optimization in energy to a complete turnaround in consumer goods to the strategy for a telecom operator.
On top of meaningful impact for clients, what makes BCG a unique place is the company's culture. People development is the core of our company, and I have experienced it in each step of my career, from intern to principal. BCG is a group of low-profile yet high-achieving individuals, willing to help each other while enjoying the journey. For me, BCG is a truly inspirational place to be!
Leandro holds a mechanical engineering degree from Unicamp and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management.
Q: What characteristics do you believe define a BCGer?
A: Someone who wants to drive impact and make things happen. Intellectual curiosity is standard. Finally, a BCGer is typically low profile, very approachable, and always willing to help and collaborate.
Q: How do you maintain a sustainable career balance at BCG?
A: The work we do is very challenging and demanding. What works for me is to contribute to an informal, yet professional, environment with my colleagues, forging a collaborative culture that drives superior delivery as a team than the sum of its parts. On top of that, I think that it is extremely important to enjoy life outside work—especially when it is busy. What refreshes me is to go to the gym by the end of the day three to four times a week.
Q: What does being a mentor mean to you?
A: A mentor implies empowering and inspiring others to succeed. The mentor does this by providing a broader perspective on the mentee’s professional career (at BCG and beyond) and on the importance of a quality personal life. Mentees’ appreciation of formal meetings and informal conversations are a powerful and very satisfying fuel for the mentor!
