BCG’s offices in Canada—in Calgary, Montréal, and Toronto—are home to a team with a wide variety of backgrounds. This diversity of experience allows us to partner with our clients and drive creative solutions that challenge the status quo and lead to lasting success.
Our Canadian practice is focused on a broad range of industries, including consumer goods, retail, financial services, industrial goods, technology, media, energy, and private equity industries. We tackle issues of strategic importance across many functional topics: organization, operations, marketing, corporate development, information systems, and digital disruptive models.
Our fresh insights help our clients grow, both as individual leaders within their organizations and as market-leading companies within their industries.
BCG in Canada also strives to give back to the community. Through pro bono projects and volunteer work, our people tackle some of the most critical issues facing Canada today.
We serve many of Canada's largest and most important corporations across every sector, partnering with CEOs, senior teams and boards to address the most pressing issues on their value creation agendas. The annual returns of our North American clients are double that of the S&P 500. And today, almost 90% of our work is repeat business—a testament to the impact we have had on our clients.
BCG has been at the forefront of thought leadership since its founding. The breakthrough ideas that BCG has developed—and continues to develop today—have become business lexicon and have helped establish our reputation in the global marketplace. The online source for our thought leadership is bcg.perspectives, home to articles and interactive analyses of the issues faced by today’s leaders in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors around the world.
In addition, we partner with leading organizations to deepen our expertise, broaden our reach, and intensify our impact. For instance, BCG Digital Ventures allows us to bring a team of innovators and entrepreneurs to help our established client base identify and launch new opportunities.
BCG in Canada aspires to bring our strategic excellence and impact orientation to the greatest challenges Canada faces as a country and society. Whatever these may be—the need for a sustainable resource economy, rising health care demands, infrastructure leadership, and global talent competition, to name a few—we continually dedicate ourselves and our resources to these issues to focus on the highest leverage points that will generate impact for the community.
Given the large number yet inefficient structure of many charities and nonprofit organizations in Canada, we also commit our capabilities to select high potential organizations to help them continue to increase efficiency and impact and grow to scale. For example, we incubated, housed, and continue to partner with the Pecaut Centre and its venture philanthropy arm LEAP.
LEAP selects high-potential nonprofits through a rigorous process, then works with sector partners, including BCG, to scale them across Canada. We work with these charities to create a go-forward growth strategy. LEAP’s inaugural investment, SNAP (Stop Now and Plan), a children's mental health organization, is now well on its way to reaching the ambitious growth objectives for its national expansion. It grew 55% over the past year and raised more than $14 million ($4 million to the SNAP campaign goal and an additional $10 million to support SNAP implementation in seven new communities in Ontario) since the BCG strategy launched.
A few years ago, BCG partnered with BMO to define an inspirational plan for the renaissance of Montréal. We studied similar cities that rebounded from a decline and identified learnings on key priority areas and actions to drive a turnaround for the city.
Over the years, we have even helped establish new organizations to drive change in our cities, including the launch of the following:
We have also played a critical role in helping Pathways to Education grow and bring its incredible program to more neighborhoods in need, increasing graduation rates 75% on average and generating a $24 social return for every $1 invested. We were also a driving force behind Je Vois Montreal to drive economic prosperity in Montreal and the Greening Greater Toronto initiative, identifying real ways to reduce our Toronto carbon footprint. In addition, BCG in Canada employees give back to our community through pro bono consulting, partnerships with key agencies, donation matching, event sponsorship, and volunteering.
BCG is expanding rapidly in Canada, with double-digit annual growth over the past decade. The Boston Consulting Group’s presence in Canada began in 1993, with the merger of the Canada Consulting Group and BCG. Our offices in Toronto, Montréal, and Calgary—a staff of more than 250—serve clients across all regions of the country.
The employees in BCG’s Canadian offices have more than 80 different academic backgrounds from approximately 70 universities. They represent more than 15 nationalities and speak over 30 languages.
We are proud to be recognized both for the excellence of our work and for the opportunities for personal growth that we provide to our employees. Numerous external and independent organizations have recognized BCG as an employer of choice, including:
