Rohin Is a Passionate Visionary

Project Leader, Sydney

At BCG, Visionaries navigate complexity with ease. They use their insight and intuition to identify the solutions that will create lasting impact. Rohin champions uncommon ideas.

Every day at BCG I am surrounded by the most brilliant people doing the most amazing things, in an environment where ideas are the only currency that matters. It is hard not to be inspired.

Rohin

In Rohin’s Words

BCG has provided me with the opportunity to tackle some of the most challenging business problems for some of the largest businesses, all across the world. From helping a consumer goods business optimize their supply chain to assisting a major bank navigate new regulation, from Europe to Asia to America—every case presents a new and exciting challenge.

The greatest thing about BCG is its people. My background is analytics and operations research, but I am often working shoulder to shoulder with experts in organizational design, change management, and a myriad of other disciplines. In an environment where everyone is brilliant, it is remarkable how little ego plays a part in our culture. This is a place of inclusiveness and respect, where the only currency that matters are your ideas. This is what makes BCG special, and this is how we succeed.

Q&A

Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?

A: At a functional advantage conference in Hong Kong, I spoke to a partner about a case he had been running in India for a business with a number of foundries. Operating a foundry is extremely complex, and I suggested that mathematical optimization could be used to increase capacity. To my surprise, he said, “Why don’t you come to India and help us do it?” I did, and we increased throughput by 20%.

Q: Can you give an example of a time in which your team came together in a big way? Put another way, what’s the best team experience you’ve had?

A: We had six weeks to reset the strategy of one of the largest infrastructure projects in the world—a seemingly impossible task. A team of two dozen consultants came together in what was the most intense and energizing case I have ever worked on. What we achieved together was something to be proud of.

Q: What are some of your goals, and how does working at BCG support them?

A: I am extremely passionate about the use of mathematical optimization to help businesses make better decisions, and this is a topic that I am presently leading at BCG. Every time we help a business use this technology we discover millions of dollars in value, and I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. My goal is to continue to grow this capability, both with our experts and generalist consulting staff, in order to create billions of dollars in value for our clients.
