Consultant, São Paulo
At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Gabriela finds clarity in a complex world.
BCG provides me with the perfect balance between challenge and development. I feel energized by the incredible colleagues that surround me and by the mind-set of the company.
My first contact with BCG was when I was working for a BCG client. It was love at first sight. When I saw the analysis and the value generated for the company where I was working, I decided that I wanted to join BCG and be part of this story.
BCG has provided me with unique opportunities to work with the most influential companies in my country, and to be part of the effort to craft innovative solutions that will shape the future of several industries in Brazil. My work experience also includes an opportunity to earn a license in order to work as a volunteer in an area that I am passionate about: education. BCG's career model enables employees to chart their own course and have an exciting career. I feel proud to be part of this company.
Gabriela holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) with extension from University of Illinois.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: BCG has put me to work in the most intellectually challenging projects, with bright people that were ready, willing, and able to help me give my best every day. The leadership support helped me a lot to grow through candid and specific coaching and feedback. Along my journey, I have found senior mentors who are willing to guide me along the right path.
Q: Tell us about a moment when you challenged the status quo.
A: During a strategy case, we had to challenge the current view of the client. The CEO firmly believed that the company should focus on a determined segment in order to maximize revenues. However, our analysis proved that focusing on other segment would duplicate the client's revenue. So we had to build our case and present our findings supported by extensive analysis and arguments in order to convince the CEO to change her mind. BCG's intellectual integrity and commitment have made me challenge established conventions several times.
Q: Why is BCG a good place for a woman to work?
BCG provides many opportunities to help women succeed, such as career development, mentorship, and networking programs. The firm's commitment to discuss and increase women’s participation is evidenced by the quantity of meetings, conferences, and forums that female consultants can participate in. And there are so many successful women at BCG who can serve as role models.
Flexible work options are available to increase the sustainability of the career and to contemplate personal goals of the staff. The concern with women is genuine within all levels of BCG.
