For Ernest Saudjana, a principal in BCG's Jakarta office, BCG's relationship with the World Economic Forum has provided an exceptional professional experience.
First, Ernest earned a position as a secondee working on the collaborative Emerging Market Financial Services project. As part of his secondment, Ernest helped launch the project's report at the World Economic Forum meeting on East Asia in Bangkok. Redefining the Emerging Market Opportunity explored how to enable private-sector innovations to promote financial inclusion.
Next, following his secondee experience, Ernest was invited to join the Global Shapers community. Ernest was elected curator of the Jakarta Hub in 2014-2015, where he and the 25 other Global Shapers actively drive education initiatives—fund-raising, inspirational workshops, mentorship programs, and scholarship crowdfunding development—and the development of the first-ever social impact fund in Indonesia.
Ernest was also selected to be one of the 18 Global Shapers collaborating with the UN to focus attention and drive progress in various countries toward implementation of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
"By joining the Global Shapers Community, I have gained a platform and friends who are very accomplished and motivated, who share a common goal of creating a movement and driving change to improve my country and beyond.
"I was able to drive many education and social impact initiatives by working together with other Global Shapers and connecting with other stakeholders government, private sector, NGOs, academia, and many other stakeholders."
