No. Although you are more likely to be familiar with case interviews if you have consulting experience, we welcome applicants from all intellectual disciplines, and from different industry backgrounds.
Of course! Every year we receive applications from Sloan, MiF, EMBA, MiM and students with professional experience on other programmes. All LBS students are welcome at our recruiting events on campus, unless LBS Career Services has indicated that an event is specific to a particular class.
Unfortunately, our summer internship opportunities are only available to students currently in the first year of the full-time MBA programme. We do however encourage students from other programmes to consider full-time opportunities at BCG.
MiF and EMBA students are encouraged to apply for full-time positions during our Fall term recruiting processes. However, if they wish to gain more experience in the classroom before submitting an application, they are welcome to wait until the Spring recruiting term to apply. Please bear in mind that MiF and EMBA students who apply in the Fall are not eligible to reapply during the Spring term.

BCG has more than 80 offices worldwide, and most recruit regularly from our top MBA schools. When you submit your application through the dedicated LBS online link, it is pooled directly to screening teams in the offices where you would like to work. These teams will then review your application in parallel and advise the central LBS recruiting team whether or not you are to be invited to a global first-round interview on their behalf.
In almost all circumstances, yes. Only on very rare occasions are BCGers able to work in a region where they do not speak the local language.
Please think very carefully about which office you most want to work for, and nominate them in order of preference from 1 to 3. You should have good reasons why a particular office appeals and have relevant work or life experience which will allow you to relate to the local culture and client base. And please be honest! It is not a good idea to apply to an office and then ask for an immediate transfer elsewhere if you receive an offer; this is rarely possible at point of entry to BCG.
Some of our offices receive an extremely high level of applications. For example, London, Singapore, San Francisco, and New York are always very popular places to work. This does not mean you should not apply to these offices, but we are well aware that LBS is a very global school; therefore, we do encourage you to consider your geographic preferences carefully if you have solid experience in other regions where we have offices.
You will interview on campus as usual on behalf of both offices. During the interview you will probably be asked to confirm your preference. After the interview, your results will be sent to both interested offices and local teams will decide whether they wish to put you through to the decision round. If both offices are still interested you will automatically progress with your office of preference.
Unfortunately this is not always possible due to the number of applications we receive. However, our dedicated LBS recruiting team will be on campus regularly throughout the year and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in a local office elsewhere we are also happy to put you in touch with someone from that particular region. In addition, certain offices run “open-house” type events during the year which allow you to visit on a specific day; and there will usually be international representatives on campus at our presentations.
We actively encourage you to do this as much as possible, either by attending our recruiting events and speaking with LBS alumni within BCG, requesting a contact via LBSRecruiting@bcg.com, or by speaking with one of our Ambassadors on Campus (BCGers currently taking part in the MBA or MiF programmes).
We keep the application process as easy as possible, simply apply centrally via the dedicated LBS link on Career Central, and attach a cover letter and CV.
Transcripts are not necessary. However, some offices will want to know what your degree class or GPA was from your undergraduate studies, so you may want to include this information on your CV.
You should submit your application online through Career Central as normal, but please make sure you inform us as soon as possible if you will be out of the United Kingdom during the interview period by emailing us at LBSRecruiting@bcg.com. Usually we are able to make arrangements for you to be interviewed elsewhere. Likewise, we will interview IEPs who are on the LBS campus at the same time as other students.
The first round usually consists of two face-to-face, or video-conference, case interviews of 45 minutes each. The interviews run back to back and are mostly held at the LBS campus. We try and schedule everybody in one day and our consultants fly in from a number of different offices to help out. All our interviewers are fully trained.
You can expect each interview to open with a brief introductory chat and discussion of your CV. The case will then take from 20–25 minutes, and the meeting will conclude with an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
No. Due to client commitments our interviewers are subject to change at short notice. We always invite candidates to arrive 15 minutes in advance of their scheduled start time, when we will give you a short biography on each of your two interviewers to read through.
We recommend reaching out to our BCG Ambassadors on Campus to ask for interview practice, you can find their names under the 'BCG Ambassadors' page. In addition to this, we encourage you to take advantage of any opportunity on campus to familiarise yourself with the case interview process – attend Consulting Club events; tackle and practice the cases in the LBS casebook (some of which are provided by BCG!), and speak to Career Services and classmates with a consulting background.
First-round interviews are often face-to-face, but VC interviews are also becoming common practice. Please note that a VC interview does not in any way put you at a disadvantage, and that we will always advise you in advance if your interview will take place in this format.
Yes. If you are successfully short-listed for a second round of interviews one of the consultants who saw you in the first round should contact you directly to give you feedback. You will also be provided with their contact details in our decision email.
If you are not successful in the first round you will be sent an email with the contact details of one of your interviewers; it is then up to you to get in touch and ask for feedback. All of our consultants are more than happy to provide feedback, and we strongly encourage you to take this opportunity.
Decision-round interviews will usually take place in the relevant local office (although occasionally they will be conducted via VC).
All communication and logistical arrangements for final-round interviews are arranged by local offices, so you will be in direct touch with them by this point anyway.

Definitely. We strongly encourage you to do so, given that many people will be much better prepared for case interviews by their second year of study, and will also have gained invaluable additional experience during their internships. We regularly hire students from the full-time recruiting pool in autumn who did not make it through our summer application process.
For your summer internship application, we strongly advise you to apply to the office where you would also want to start your full-time career after graduation. If you are successful in getting an internship with a specific office and they then go on to make you a full-time offer after the summer period ends, they are making you this offer based on your fit with the culture and working environment of that particular office. It is therefore in no way guaranteed that you would be able to transfer the full-time offer to another office. Of course, if you have exceptional circumstances that mean you need to consider a change of geography, BCG will do everything it can to assist you.
To the very best of our ability, yes. However, please be aware that we are a global company and that there are some restrictions in specific offices which make obtaining visas more difficult. For example, at present it is not possible to get a visa for a Summer Internship in our U.S. offices unless you are a U.S. national, or hold a valid work permit. Similarly, you are unlikely to be able to obtain a visa for our Spanish offices unless you are entitled to work within the EU.
