Hans Is an Imaginative Challenger

Project Leader, Dubai

At BCG, Challengers go against expected thinking and inspire their teams to be truly innovative. Hans connects the dots to see the bigger picture.

The best lesson at BCG is never be satisfied with your first solution. Keep on challenging yourself to come up with something better. Always think about what you have to do to remain successful in the future.

In Hans’s Words

I come from a real estate investment-banking background. My world was financial models and analysis.

During my MBA, I decided to see what consultants do, and it exposed me to a truly new world that was all about understanding problems and coming up with new ideas for clients. I have been fortunate to have had that same experience across all my projects so far, including setting up a new unemployment agency in Saudi Arabia, helping a multinational metals company enter the Saudi market, supporting a large family business establish a plastic packaging company, and helping a global event shape the city landscape of Dubai.

Most important for me are the teams we work with every day at BCG. It astonishes me every time how quickly we can form very effective teams and how much fun each team is.

About Hans

Hans graduated in international management from the Munich Business School and Chinese University of Hong Kong and earned an executive master’s degree in real estate science from the University of Regensburg. In addition, he received his MBA from ESADE Business School and took part in an exchange program with Northwestern University.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love the people I am working with. At BCG, you are surrounded by extremely smart people who are eager to make change happen. But the most important element for me is the way in which we work together. It is an extremely collaborative style. Everybody speaks up, and it is not not the individual who is important but the team and the overall outcome.

Q: What’s your home office environment like?

A: I always describe it as a mini-MBA. We have people of more than 50 nationalities in our office. Everybody wants to meet new people. BCG Dubai is truly like a fun family.

Q: What is a typical day like for you?

A: The beauty about this job is that there is no typical day. Our work is characterized by flexibility and change almost on a daily basis. But of course there are some things that I do every day. I have a status update meeting with my team, brainstorming sessions to discuss problems we need to solve, client meetings, and video conferences with internal and external advisors.
