Improving Health Care Value: The Case for Disease Registries

In response to the failure of conventional cost controls to rein in health care expenditures, policymakers have emphasized improving value by weighing patient outcomes against treatment costs. A BCG study of 13 disease registries in 5 countries demonstrates the potential of registries to improve health outcomes even as they lower health care costs.
