  • The New Global Economy
  • January 04, 2008
  • BCG's Harold Sirkin, David Michael, and Arindam Bhattacharya wrote in BusinessWeek that business leaders in developed countries should pay attention to rapidly developing economies, once known as Third World countries. These nations are fast becoming major centers of economic growth, attracting $245 billion in foreign direct investment in 2006 and generating some 17.3 percent of total global gross domestic product. As noted in the latest Global Challengers report, these countries are increasingly home to the competition. They also are home to current or potential customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Innovation on the Agenda for the New Year
  • January 01, 2008
  • The Wall Street Journal looked at three innovation reports from 2007, including the third annual survey by BCG and BusinessWeek. All three found that "innovation remains a high priority for most corporate leaders around the world," meaning that some of the biggest stories of 2008 are likely to revolve around whether businesses can or can't think outside the box.
  • Buzz Surrounds Tata’s New Compact Car
  • February 14, 2004
  • In BusinessWeek Online, BCG's Harold Sirkin wrote about the interest surrounding Indian automaker Tata Motors' new Nano, the four-door compact sedan some are calling "the next Model T Ford or Volkswagen Beetle." The high level of excitement is the result of smart innovation. Harold noted that a highly creative company—in this case a company native to one of the world's rapidly developing economies—recognized a need and saw an opportunity to fill it profitably.
