Bas van Heel

Bas van Heel joined The Boston Consulting Group in 1996 and is the global leader of BCG’s work in the postal and express delivery sector.

Over the last ten years, Bas has led BCG’s efforts to build from scratch a leading global practice in the postal and express sector. His clients include the largest postal, parcel, and express operators in more than 30 countries.

Postal operators are often the largest employer in each country, and today they are facing tremendous transformation challenges. Transforming from a government-owned monopoly in letter mail to a private, fully competitive e-commerce service provider involves a high degree of stakeholder complexity, which Bas has helped numerous organizations navigate.

Before his role as sector leader, Bas was a member of the Industrial Goods practice, where he was responsible for various strategy, operational effectiveness, functional, and organization projects. He worked extensively with B2B companies in chemicals, distribution, telecommunications, and postal.

Before joining BCG, Bas was a marketing manager in Unilever’s chemical division.
