Hannes Pichler joined The Boston Consulting Group in 2000. He is a member of the firm’s German consumer-products and operations core groups and has headed many projects in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Hannes leads operations in the Consumer Goods practice in Europe and also leads the BCG office in Vienna. His casework focuses on operational excellence in manufacturing and supply chain, cost reduction, and programs for profitability growth and transformation.

Hannes has worked on several operation-improvement and strategy-development projects, including review of key industry trends and defining market impact, client position, and strategic roadmaps. His projects have focused on building and implementing worldwide a production system for a fast-moving consumer-goods (FMCG) company; a European plant-efficiency-and-network-redesign project for a global food manufacturer; a cross-European portfolio and projects to lessen SKU complexity for several food categories; and European and global programs to optimize selling, general, and administrative expenses for several multinational companies across industries.

His work on simplicity and speed in the consumer products industry has informed several articles and much client work.

Hannes’s prior professional experience includes five years at Ericsson in Stockholm, Los Angeles, and Vienna, most recently as global product manager.
