In the face of a changing security landscape—the rise of terrorists, radicalism, and new technologies—armed forces increasingly need to build capabilities in cyberdefense and digitization, explains Heinrich Rentmeister, a BCG partner and managing director. Heinrich Rentmeister is head of The Boston Consulting Group’s Public Sector practice in Germany and Austria, and he is the coleader of BCG’s global defense activities.

Heinrich has extensive experience in the public sector, having worked for KPMG before joining BCG in 2014. He had been a partner at KPMG since 2011, and his work focused on the German public sector, particularly the federal government.

Heinrich previously worked for McKinsey & Company, advising clients in the telecommunications, information technology, defense and aerospace, and cleantech industries, as well as numerous public sector organizations. He has also held positions in the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, the Federal Ministry of Defense, and the federal branch of the CDU.

He is the coauthor of several publications on defense issues and cleantech.
