José Machado is a core member of The Boston Consulting Group’s Operations practice.
Over the course of his career, José has worked on numerous projects to implement corporatewide organizational transformations across a broad range of industries, including banking, insurance, travel, construction, energy, media, telecommunications, and government. He has worked in both industry and consulting, and he has acquired particularly deep experience in procurement in the wind energy sector, as well as negotiation analysis.
José has led engagements to help major banks identify opportunities for cost reduction, and he has also worked in the industrial sector, partnering with manufacturers to optimize sales force effectiveness. He has developed a highly successful training program on negotiation analysis and has provided coaching on negotiation to major corporate clients in the US, Europe, Brazil, and Asia.
Prior to joining BCG in 2015, José was the chief procurement officer at EDP Renewables, and he was previously chief purchasing officer at Portugal Telecom. He also worked as a manager at Accenture, a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting, and as chief information officer and acting head of logistics and facilities management at Portugal Telecom.
