Lars Kloppsteck is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Industrial Goods, Operations, and Corporate Development practices. He coleads the firm’s global shipping sector and developed the well-known Shipping Benchmarking Initiative.

Lars is an expert in marine shipping worldwide. He focuses on shipping lines, ports, and terminals, as well as inland infrastructure. His recent client work at BCG includes large-scale transformation projects, growth strategy, and operational and commercial efficiency at top global-shipping lines. Lars is also an expert in mergers and acquisitions and private-equity-related topics.

Lars has contributed to several major BCG reports, including The Transformation Imperative in Container Shipping, Time to Engage—or Fade Away: What All Owners Should Learn from the Shakeout in Private Equity, and The Shakeout in Private Equity: The Role of Investors in the Industry’s Renaissance.

Before joining BCG, Lars was managing director of a Hong Kong-based consumer-goods company with revenues of $35 million, where he managed a team of approximately 80 people across Asia.
