Leonid Zhukov leads BCG GAMMA (Boston Consulting Group’s big data and advanced analytics practice) in Moscow, and is an expert in big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Leonid is also a professor in the Department of Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

Since joining BCG in 2015, Leonid has implemented a number of large-scale projects for major international and Russian companies and organizations in the oil and gas industry, energy sector, biotech, industrial goods, and logistics. These have included developing predictive maintenance methods and optimized maintenance programs, building simulation and risk assessment models for major capital projects, optimizing crew schedules, and developing digital opportunity portfolios leveraging IoT/Industry 4.0 technologies.

Prior to joining BCG, Leonid was Director of Data Science at Ancestry.com, where he led the data science team that developed scalable machine learning and information retrieval systems for analysis of historical documents. Before that, he was a researcher at Yahoo! Labs, where he developed algorithms for web graph analysis and targeted advertising, and Caltech (California Institute of Technology), where he worked on computational modeling and visualization of biomedical systems. He also co-founded and led the engineering team of an information security startup.
