Lionel Aré

Senior Partner & Managing Director, Global Leader, Financial Institutions Practice


Lionel Aré is the global leader of the Financial Institutions practice and the Strategic Planning Initiative at The Boston Consulting Group.

Since joining BCG in 1991, Lionel has worked with banks in France, Italy, and Spain on all areas of their operations, as well as on projects in the high-tech, consumer, industrial goods, and health care sectors. He has acquired deep experience in postmerger integration, strategic planning, risk assessment, and process redesign.

Over the years, he has helped large banks and insurance companies apply the principles of distribution efficiency improvement, client segmentation, sales force organization and effectiveness, multichannel strategy, and direct-banking strategy.

Prior to joining BCG, Lionel worked as a research engineer for France Telecom Research Center.
