Since joining The Boston Consulting Group in 2001, Marco Gerrits has worked primarily in the industrial goods industry, with a focus on the automotive sector. He leads BCG's global work in automotive product strategy and development and product cost optimization. Based in Beijing from 2008 to 2015, Marco Gerrits helped build BCG's work in the automotive sector in Greater China, while providing his expertise and support to clients and teams across Asia-Pacific.
He is a core member of BCG's Global Advantage, Industrial Goods, and Operations practices.
Marco has managed international projects and teams in all steps of the automotive value chain. Recent project work includes defining an R&D roadmap with multiple market-entry strategies into China, India, and Southeast Asia and a focus on product positioning, definition, and feasibility; setting up an R&D offshore business unit, an operational-improvement program for a leading premium OEM; completing multiple functional-capability-building programs for OEMs across China; and formulating multiple growth strategies for businesses in Asia-Pacific, China, and Europe, with a focus on mitigating entry barriers and defining the required network, wholesale, and training operations.
Prior to joining BCG, Marco led projects at DaimlerChrysler as the manager of car projects for Mercedes-Benz E/S-Class; he also worked on strategic planning for Mercedes-Benz and smart passenger cars.
