Philipp Gerbert leads BCG’s initiative on digital strategy and artificial intelligence. He is also a BCG Fellow in BCG’s Henderson Institute; his fellowship explores the impact of artificial intelligence on business. He has served for many years leading BCG’s Strategy practice in Europe and the Machinery, Engineering, and Infrastructure sector globally.
Philipp’s core focus is on the impact of digital and artificial intelligence on competitive advantage and business. He brings more than 20 years of consulting experience in strategic transformations, innovation, and growth—focusing primarily on technology-driven businesses.
A physicist and an expert in energy and digital technology, he is intensely interested in technology-based transformations of business and economics. For several years, Philipp has been leading BCG’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum on some of the forum’s initiatives: Strategic Infrastructure, Infrastructure in Africa, and The Future of Construction. He has collaborated with the German Industry Association on the publications The New Structure in Power and Climate Paths for Germany.
Before joining BCG, Philipp worked for McKinsey & Company, The McKenna Group, and A.T. Kearney.
