Senior Researcher, London
At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Anna finds clarity in a complex world.
The best thing a BCG mentor told me was this: at BCG, you don't just have the right to speak up, you have an obligation to speak up.
I joined BCG's Data & Research Services team with several years of experience in private equity research, but BCG's broad industry expertise meant that I was able to learn a lot about a wide variety of industries in a short space of time. I now mainly focus on the corporate development topic and financial services.
I really enjoy the challenge of being a researcher—finding lots of different pieces of information and putting them together to create the bigger picture.
BCG is a great company to work for—from day one you're part of the team. Your contribution is valued, and you're encouraged to express your view, regardless of title and tenure. It's also very rewarding and enriching to be surrounded by such incredibly smart minds and people with a deep expertise and passion for their topic.
Anna is a senior researcher in the Center for Knowledge and Analytics in London, and holds an MSc in economics from the University of London.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I work on assignments covering a wide variety of industries—some of which I didn't know existed. I feel that every day I learn something new about the world, and my job helps me make connections between business processes and the wider economy.
I'm also involved in training and mentoring more junior members of the team. It's really rewarding to be part of their development and help them succeed.
Q: How would you describe the BCG community?
A: At BCG, everyone is very approachable and helpful. Regardless of their title or whether you've met before, you can reach out if you have a question or need some advice. There's a real sense of community and supporting one another.
Q: What's your home office environment like?
A: My home office is friendly, welcoming, and very international—combined, we speak at least ten different languages! It's great fun to work in such a multicultural team; you learn a lot about different countries and customs, and you can always rely on your colleagues for travel tips when you go on holiday. My home office also offers some great after-work activities. From sports to exhibitions to weekend excursions, there is always something to do.
