Global Risk Management Director, Boston
At BCG, Explorers are unafraid to embark on new journeys. They try new solutions to untangle complex problems and drive transformational change. Ciaran empowers and inspires others.
I have seen a transformation in risk awareness levels at BCG and take tremendous pride in the impact the risk function has played in that transformation.
I am originally from Ireland and spent a few years in the UK after graduating from university. I then moved to the US and developed an expertise in the field of treasury management. When I joined BCG’s treasury group, I had spent most of my career in corporate treasury managing risks such as FX, interest rate exposure, cash management, and so on. After a few years in that role, I was approached to take those skills and build a new function within BCG: the risk management function. I strongly believe that this is a great example of what makes BCG a great place in which to work and grow. I did not have the perfect background for the role, but leadership identified my professional skills and capabilities as ones that could lead and grow the function, as well as offer a professional growth opportunity.
Ciaran holds a bachelor of commerce (honors) from University College Dublin, Ireland, and a master’s in finance from Boston College. He is also a certified management accountant and a certified internal auditor, both designations obtained during his time at BCG to enhance and develop his skill set.
