At BCG, Visionaries navigate complexity with ease. They use their insight and intuition to identify the solutions that will create lasting impact. Debora is unafraid to try new things.
What I value most at BCG is that my opinion counts, enabling me to have personal impact early on in my career.
As a civil engineer, I was attracted to BCG because I wanted to combine my passion for solving complex problems with my business interests and additional master’s degree in management.
BCG fulfilled this interest by giving me the opportunity to work with exceptional teams, helping leading organizations in different industries on their toughest challenges.
BCG has truly shaped my perspective—not only by the exposure to a wide range of topics and industries but also by the people working here. Our teams are formed to include a range of experiences and backgrounds, bringing new insights to a problem. As a first year associate, I was impressed by how valued my opinion was in team and client meetings, enabling me to create real personal impact at the beginning of my career.
Debora holds a civil engineering degree from Ghent University and a master’s in general management from Vlerick Business School. Part of her engineering studies she spent in Miami, U.S.A. and Shanghai, China through exchange programs.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: I came into contact with BCG by its Women@bcg event, organized in the fall. At this event, a number of BCG consultants as well as alumni inspired me with their examples of women at BCG succeeding, taking the initiative, and leading in business. The challenging and stimulating environment, international opportunities, and impact you can have early in your career were other reasons that persuaded me to start my career at BCG. I’m convinced I can reach my full potential here.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I like most about BCG are its people, characterized as intellectually challenging, amusing, and approachable. At BCG, you’ll find a variety of backgrounds and insights that make our teams very diverse. As BCG is truly global, you are often part of an international team, working together with different nationalities and cultures, developing new perspectives on a variety of topics. Although our backgrounds differ, we share a common goal to help our clients succeed on the most challenging topics.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: The focus on personal development is remarkable at BCG. On the one hand, I get intensive training programs from professional trainers and experienced BCG consultants to further develop my business and interpersonal skills. On the other, I learn on a daily basis from casework and my team. Regular feedback given by the PL/P on the case and a dedicated career advisor reinforces this development and help me to succeed. All this strengthens my steep learning curve.
