Denis Is a Fearless Seeker

BCG Digital Ventures Senior Engineer, Berlin

At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Denis is unafraid to try new things.

At BCGDV, I love the hands-on mentality: The value of ‘actions over words’ is truly lived here.

Denis

In Denis’s Words

I love engineering, structuring complex problems, and exploring new solutions. During my ten years in research and innovation projects, I increasingly understood that I cannot come up with truly innovative solutions on my own; doing so requires a great team. And this is what I love about BCG Digital Ventures—building ventures in small teams, with people from diverse backgrounds. I find the discussions across cohorts extremely enriching and enjoy finding that sweet spot between technology, business, and the user experience.

About Denis

Denis has in-depth knowledge of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), mechatronics, AI applications in manufacturing, control theory, and technology management gained from completing a doctorate at RWTH Aachen University and from his studies at Carnegie Mellon University. His additional competencies include the customization and administration of product lifecycle management systems, data modeling, semantic web, data analytics, CAx programming, and large-scale project management.

Q: Why did you choose to work at BCGDV?

A: I love to work in small interdisciplinary teams.

Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?

A: I like the direct feedback culture at BCGDV. It is not only the official feedback cycle, but a continuous and very open process of exchanging input with your colleagues.

Q: What inspires you about your work?

A: I love the field trips: going into factories and laboratories, testing our newly developed products. You build better products if you connect with the people who will use them. They give me inspiration.

Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?

A: I love bicycling as a way of travel. Before joining BCGDV, I cycled from Germany to Greece!

Q: What trends are you following and why?

A: I follow AI and machine learning closely. It’s fun for me to try out the latest tools that come out and to play with technology.
