Project Leader, São Paulo
At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Filipe challenges the status quo.
I’m never in my comfort zone at BCG. There is always something new to learn or a new skill to develop in order to deliver superior value to our clients. That’s what makes working at BCG so interesting and dynamic.
When I joined BCG, after earning my degree in engineering, I was interested in working in different industries and functions. The diversity of projects here is truly incredible—from oil platforms to generic medicines in my case. But I am also amazed every day here at BCG by how deeply we go into each project to help our clients with their unique challenges. It is something I really appreciate in my job.
In addition, I feel I’m really part of BCG and I’m very proud about it. This feeling comes from a combination of several elements, such as having a relevant role in each project, no matter my position; having an open communication channel with all partners; supporting a practice that I’m interested in, like Operations; and participating in one of the many sports events, such as the soccer tournament organized every year among BCG offices worldwide.
Filipe holds an industrial engineering degree from Escola Politécnica-USP with a double degree in management engineering from Politecnico di Milano.
Q: What inspires you about BCG?
A: What inspires me is seeing the passion and enthusiasm that everyone has at BCG to do the best for our clients. Just to find a typical solution is not enough. We always want to bring a new insight, a different perspective, an innovative idea. It’s part of the company’s DNA.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: BCG helps in many dimensions. Feedback and performance assessment are very clear and well structured. I have an advisor I can count on to discuss my career and the challenges I face. There is a structured process—called PTO—that assures predictability and the right balance with my personal commitments. In a few words, I can really focus on doing my best in each project, and BCG takes care of the rest.
Q: If you weren’t working at BCG, what would you be doing?
A: If I was not working at BCG, I’d like to work for an F1 team, such as Ferrari or McLaren. I’m a big fan of the automotive industry, and F1 represents the maximum in terms of engineering, competition, speed, and passion. I’d also have the opportunity to travel to circuits all over the world. I’d be happy to be an engineer or a mechanic in one of the racing teams.
