Hossein Is a Courageous Ally

To me working at BCG is a constant three-way development of myself, the firm, and the client.

In Hossein's Words

I started working in strategy and operations consulting many years ago in Iran, where I was born and raised. I then moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to practice consulting in the area of leadership development for another two years. Then I moved to the Netherlands, where I joined a Dutch consulting firm specializing in operations and entered the Amsterdam Business School’s MBA program.

Three years ago, I joined Maersk group (a global leader in the shipping industry) to help them with operations. My main task was to help lift the operations globally in more than 84 countries. Working as a general manager in the front line of operations helped me enrich my understanding of clients’ needs and challenges.

When I was approached by BCG to help further develop the Operations practice, I found the challenge extremely exciting and I decided to make a new start in my consulting career. I chose to work at BCG because being a part of a global network of highly competent professionals with access to knowledge and expertise is a unique opportunity for me to develop myself beyond the development pace and norms at most corporations.

Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?

A: The famous saying at BCG which is, “You should craft your own destiny.” This level of freedom helps one develop oneself while creating value for the clients and BCG.

Q: What are you most curious about?

A: What I’m most curious about is how human brains work. In the end, every change we’d like to realize at our client site starts in the brains of the people we consult.

Q: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?

A: I would teach the politicians to start thinking like a BCG consultant: strategic, structured, and systematic. This might solve many issues we face nowadays in the world.
