Project Leader, Singapore
At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Jessica finds clarity in a complex world.
Every day at BCG is a day of growth and learning. My mind is constantly stimulated and stretched by the great people who surround me.
I joined BCG right after college and have been here for more than eight years. So many years with the same company doesn’t translate into same roles and work content. I actually feel constantly stimulated and challenged at BCG. I have worked in four offices at BCG, taking on three very different roles. BCG has been around and has supported every step of the journey of my life and career.
I am currently an expert with the Leadership and Talent Enablement Center of the Asia-Pacific region. We help people grow to be great executives and leaders. I love the intellectual stimulations brought about by the work and people around me every day.
Jessica is an expert with BCG’s Leadership and Talent Enablement Center. She is a trained executive and life coach and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?
A: One day I took some time to review my friends and social networks. I noticed that the majority of my closest friends are from BCG. Some of them are still with BCG and play important parts in various areas of the company. This group of like-minded people has formed a strong bond over the years. Whatever I do or wherever I go, I have BCGers there to back me up in my life and career.
Q: How do you maintain a sustainable career balance at BCG?
A: I am on the flex work plan of BCG. I work at 60% capacity—or three days a week—at the moment. I use the extra time off from work to practice life coaching, to pursue my passions, and to take care of my family. This has made my life more balanced and meaningful. The teams and all the partners I work with on my projects are very supportive. They are willing to go extra miles to make sure my flexible working model is protected.
Q: What international experiences at BCG have been the most interesting for you?
A: I was part of the Ambassador program in BCG’s San Francisco office during my second year as a consultant. I fully experienced and immersed myself in the diversity of San Francisco. I ended up meeting my husband there. A short Ambassador program transformed my life. I ended up living in San Francisco for more than five years before moving back to Asia with my family.
