At BCG, Pioneers have the courage to take action on unique insights. They share and activate ideas that enable our clients to gain the competitive edge. Jiří challenges the status quo.
At BCG, you will be continuously challenged, and your perception of what is and what is not possible will change.
I have a background in statistics and international relations, but BCG has brought me on a completely different path. Since I joined the company, I have been focusing on the energy industry and supporting clients mainly in the power and gas sector. Examples of great projects I have worked on are development of a long-term strategy for a major power utility in the Middle East, support of a large-scale carve-out at a leading energy company in Europe, and optimization of operations and maintenance at multiple gas system operators.
For me, BCG stands for not being afraid to take responsibility and drive change, bringing structure to complex problems, and tapping an overwhelming pool of in-house know-how and capabilities to create long-lasting value for our clients. The thing I like most about BCG is a friendly atmosphere and an unbelievable willingness to help each other within the company.
Jiří holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Cologne and is an alumnus of the Rochus & Beatrice Mummert foundation.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I like most is that every project is completely different and every day brings something new. I am a person who needs “steam in the pipeline” and loves a continuous challenge. BCG offers exactly this. The thrill is always there and the learning curve is steep.
Q: What international experiences at BCG have been the most interesting for you?
A: On my first project, I was cross-office staffed to Saudi Arabia. Not only did I have to catch up with a new industry and the consulting world quickly but I was also exposed to a completely different cultural and working environment. Looking back, learning how to cooperate with clients with a very different cultural background was one of the greatest learnings at BCG so far.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?
A: I was very surprised by the amount of responsibility I was given right from the start of my first project. At BCG, you are a full owner of your module and no one will come and tell you what, when, or how to do it; it is all up to you.
