Project Leader, Madrid
At BCG, Allies bring a sense of collaboration and excitement to their teams. They create an atmosphere of trust and support in which people can do their best work. Juan finds clarity in a complex world.
The best part of working at BCG is being part of a truly inspiring team that will boost your learning curve exponentially. You will never stop learning!
My background is in industrial engineering. I started working at BCG right after I finished my studies. I was fortunate enough to work in the sectors in which I had expertise—energy and industrial goods—and apply some knowledge I acquired during previous years.
BCG has given me the opportunity to work directly with the top management of leading companies in Spain and some of the most prestigious companies around the world. Thanks to BCG, I have traveled, been exposed to new cultures, and made lots of new friends.
One of the things I am most proud of during my time at BCG is the pro bono work I've done and all the social impact initiatives that BCG has launched globally and that are aimed to change the world. By leading the office's volunteering activities I am putting together local non-profit organizations and BCG's efforts in improving people's life.
Juan holds an MsC in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and an MSc in Manufacturing Consulting from Cranfield University.
Q: What international experiences at BCG have been the most interesting for you?
A: I had the opportunity to participate in a cross-office project in Istanbul a few years ago. We helped one of the biggest conglomerates in the country define its strategy for the upcoming market liberalization. I was able to leverage the knowledge acquired while working with other European companies that had faced liberalization processes before.
Living for a few months in a city with so much history and contrasts was an enriching experience! The BCG staff from the Istanbul office welcomed me warmly, making me feel as if I was at home.
Q: What inspires you about BCG?
A: What I find truly inspiring about BCG is its commitment to the social and economic development of countries. It is not just the work we do with our clients to turn them into leading and more competitive companies that shapes BCG's DNA but also the pro bono, social impact work that we execute to make the world a better, fairer place to live. In addition, I’m inspired by the firm’s dedication to the personal growth of its employees. BCG has developed so many platforms for employees to grow that you can set your own specific learning and development path.
Q: If you could compare what you do with any other job, what would you say?
A: One of the best parts of working at BCG is that every day is different from the previous one. Working at BCG gives you the opportunity to work in many different industries and topics in a very short period of time, whereas at a "regular" job you are put in a position with a set of defined functions and responsibilities that rarely change over time. Working at BCG means that one day you can be defining an international expansion plan for a financial institution and the next day implementing an operational optimization program for a shipbuilding company.
