Marketing and Social Impact Manager, Toronto
At BCG, Allies bring a sense of collaboration and excitement to their teams. They create an atmosphere of trust and support in which people can do their best work. Kate seeks a new perspective.
When they say "chart your own course," they really mean it. BCG has allowed me to continue to push myself and pursue my passions in ways I never thought possible.
BCG is an incredible place to start your career and to continue it. I joined BCG as a summer associate during my undergrad career and had no idea what I wanted to be “when I grew up." Here I am, more than ten years later, continuing to discover just that and pursuing my passions along the way.
BCG has allowed me to shape my career around the things that matter most to me. I have always been passionate about social impact and giving back to the community. I had the privilege of partaking in social impact work on the consulting track and now have the opportunity to help shape BCG in Canada's overall social impact as well as share our great work externally. I appreciate how BCGers have supported me throughout my career to date and love the opportunity to help others develop and pursue their passions.
Kate graduated with honors from Harvard Business School, where she received her MBA, and with distinction from the HBA program at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I have the opportunity to help shape the future not only of BCG, but of Canada, as well. The work we do at BCG is helping to change the world, and I love that our work, insights, and experiences are helping to make the world we live in a better place. We have the privilege of working with the brightest minds on key topics that really make a difference.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?
A: When I first joined BCG I didn't know quite what to expect, so a lot has surprised me. But one thing that has continued to stand out is the entrepreneurial spirit of this large and incredible company. For example, a colleague asked me one day why we didn't have an environmental team, and there was no good answer. So within a couple of weeks, we launched a committee and took action. Similarly, the launch of our new BCG offices has come from a small group of dedicated individuals passionate to make it happen. I love that there is that flexibility and expectation to take action.
Q: What are some of your volunteer or charitable work experiences?
A: I am passionate about giving back and have loved that BCG has and continues to allow me to do so. We have a long-standing relationship with the Pecaut Centre/LEAP Centre for social impact and I had the chance to help with the inaugural charity SNAP back in 2013. It was an incredible experience to help draft the strategy for a very high-impact charity to grow dramatically. In my ongoing interactions with the Pecaut Centre and with SNAP, it has been inspiring to see the progress made and to follow along their growth journey.
