At BCG, Pioneers have the courage to take action on unique insights. They share and activate ideas that enable our clients to gain the competitive edge. Lorenzo is unafraid to try new things.
Being a BCGer means never fearing complexity. You should be unafraid to face the most sophisticated situations and find clarity.
As a finance graduate, when I joined BCG I was really looking forward to working in the financial industry, but I unexpectedly ended up in the Consumer practice area, and I immediately fell in love with it. From fast-moving to apparel and fashion, I have had the good luck to work with some of the best-in-class companies worldwide, gaining exposure to a broad range of topics.
Among the great opportunities BCG offered me, I will always remember the moment when I first saw a breakthrough product, for which we supported the development and launch, on a supermarket shelf. As a BCGer, you have to bring your tangible contribution to solving complexity, and when I saw that product, I suddenly realized the impact of my job.
Lorenzo holds a degree in Economics and Finance and an MSc in Accounting and Finance from Bocconi University.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Among the many aspects I love about my job, people is the top one. Being surrounded by dynamic and curious colleagues helps you to learn something new every day.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: BCG helped me a lot in growing both as a professional and as a person.
The colleagues I’ve worked with have taught me the importance of combining an analytical mindset with a strategic perspective to identify the key points of focus. A partner once told me that we should act as scientists, studying accurately the fast-changing world and understanding its dynamics.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: I believe BCG is one of the best places to work, thanks to its deep expertise, international breadth, and attention to people development.
Since my first day, I have always been part of international projects, working with talented and deeply knowledgeable people. Despite me being a young professional, my managers increasingly delegated responsibility to me, further bolstering my learning process.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?
A: Regardless of tenure, everyone in the team has to bring his/her own contribution. Partners are interested in your point of view, given the amount of time you spent analyzing data and information. Everyone at BCG is valued, and that inspires you to succeed.
