At BCG, Visionaries navigate complexity with ease. They use their insight and intuition to identify the solutions that will create lasting impact. Lynn has the courage to take action.
I specifically appreciate the atmosphere I have experienced while working with my teams. We have very open discussions with our case team leadership on how to collaborate more effectively and to make the case enriching on a professional and personal level.
BCG has allowed me to leverage my background in chemical engineering while also introducing me to many industries with which I was completely unfamiliar. For instance, I have gained experience in banking and insurance, but have also been able to demonstrate my expertise while working with a major chemical player.
I specifically value the opportunities BCG offers me to grow in various dimensions. In the first year of my career at BCG, I have had the opportunity to work directly with the CEOs of two companies, to reshape their strategies. This for me exemplifies the fact that BCG puts trust in its employees, regardless of seniority.
Lynn has a degree in chemical engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Université libre de Bruxelles, with a focus on chemical process industries.
Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?
A: I had the opportunity to experience BCG from within during an internship. Defining the strategy for a chemical company while travelling through Europe and connecting with like-minded, driven colleagues has been a tremendous experience. I am still amazed by the incredible people BCG brings together to tackle complex issues for its clients.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: Starting at BCG straight from university, I greatly appreciated the many informal—as well as formal--feedback sessions. Together with my career development advisor, I identified my strengths and areas for development and devised action plans to grow through the right case work. This has enabled me to grow in a more holistic way and at a faster pace.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: I chose BCG in order to develop a strong business acumen to complement my predominantly analytical background as an engineer. I strongly believe that working at BCG has put me on a fast track to achieving a more strategic role later in my career.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?
A: I have a very active lifestyle: I am a hiking enthusiast and I go skiing at least twice a year. I try to push my boundaries here as well, by looking for new challenges. Last year for example, I ran the 20 Km of Brussels after several weeks of preparation. Recently I took up cycling and am preparing to ride in the Tour of Flanders.
Q: What's your home office environment like?
A: I like the fact that our Brussels office is small enough that you can connect with everyone. Having a very open, friendly atmosphere at the office makes it even easier to build strong, lasting relationships with your colleagues, even outside of work.
