Odracir Is a Dynamic Visionary

Consultant, Luanda

At BCG, Visionaries navigate complexity with ease. They use their insight and intuition to identify the solutions that will create lasting impact. Odracir challenges the status quo.

The best thing a BCG mentor told me was that he would always strive to make me work and feel out of my comfort zone as only then would I truly grow and become a better professional.

In Odracir’s Words

I came from an investment management/banking background, but since joining BCG I have worked in industries such as oil and gas and in the public sector on a number of diverse, interesting, and challenging cases far removed from what I was accustomed to.

At BCG we are given a platform from which to grow both as professionals and individuals and to do so in our own way. We are valued as individuals, and our actions and opinions truly matter. I was once told by the principal on one of my cases, "At BCG, you are hired to think, speak up, and take action—not follow conventions." My time here has been a testament to that. We are expected to contribute to the team's progress.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: The diversity of the work we do as well as the incredible value we add to client organizations.

Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?

A: The emphasis placed on social impact and how BCG goes beyond what I have seen at other companies to ensure we have as much impact as possible and are doing the right thing in the communities we want to impact.

Q: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?

A: I would ensure the feeling of trust was brought back to our lives, as that is what holds us together as a society and ensures we function "properly." I am a firm believer that with the recent loss of trust, we have stopped believing in ourselves, in one another, in corporations, and in governments. That has led to people governing themselves solely by their own beliefs and with complete disregard for others, which has resulted in the current social, economic, and political crisis affecting the world.
