To be successful, you must seize your opportunities. Choose a job you love and give it the best there is in you. Being a member of such a great team as BCG is a plus.
This is actually my second time at BCG. I joined during my third year at the university in a part-time position with the Knowledge Team and recently got the opportunity to come back as a full-time employee. It was an easy decision because I loved my job. From day one, I have been exposed to various industries, tasks, and situations in which I had to learn quickly. After three years, I still find myself learning something new every day. From working on projects in niche industries to my colleagues asking interesting and challenging questions, there is no time to get bored or feel stuck in a routine.
However, the best thing about BCG is that there is always someone who will help you and support you all the way to achieve your goals. At BCG everyone has plenty of options to grow professionally and personally as he or she wishes. But whether you want to master some topic you are interested in, you are struggling with your Excel model, or you just need good advice, you can always go and ask your colleagues.
Veronika holds a master's degree in econometrics and operations research from the University of Economics in Prague. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Slovak, and Czech and has basic knowledge of Portuguese.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The aspect of my work that most appeals to me is that every day is slightly different than the previous day. As a knowledge analyst, I work on many different projects—and not only in the Prague office. I am a part of the global team, and I support BCG offices all around the world. I also enjoy the challenges I face every day. My responsibility is to give consultants the best possible answers to questions that might arise while working on their projects and to provide insights on various topics, industries, and markets. For that, I have to do a lot of reading and studying, but thanks to this I am learning something new every day.
Q: What characteristics do you believe define a BCGer?
A: Everyone at BCG is his or her own person, bringing diversity and new ideas to the team. It's what makes BCG so unique. We all have different backgrounds, experiences, interests, and priorities, but we are working as one to help our clients and make an impact not only on their strategy and performance but also on the business environment and society. People at BCG inspire each other and share experience and knowledge. BCGers are curious about the world around them and determined to solve the tasks they are dealing with.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?
A: I try to spend most of my free time with my family and friends. But sometimes, in the evening, when I come home from work, I need time just for myself. That is when I like reading books (usually sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea or a glass of wine). However I spend most of my weekends outside: doing sports, hanging out with friends, exploring Prague and its surroundings, and traveling or skiing in winter.
