At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Victoria champions uncommon ideas.
You'll be successful at BCG if you're equally comfortable challenging a senior partner and considering a wild idea from a summer intern.
I come from a background in small companies, having founded, built, and managed upstart brands in the food and beverage industries. BCG has shown me that large companies have the same problems as small ones, just on a different scale—and that experience in startups and small businesses is actually a great way to tap into unconventional insights for our clients here. The firm has been very inclusive of my unique background, and I'm constantly getting chances to showcase that uniqueness in the work I create for my clients.
Being at BCG isn't all about work, though. Some of my closest friends are those I've met here on client work and in various trainings. They've become my support network not just for helping me provide huge client value, but for showing me how to live my life like the creative, passionate, curious person that BCG helps me to be.
Victoria has a BS with Honors from Northwestern in dance and philosophy, and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. She has performed as a professional ballerina, has Level 2 sommelier certification, and has built and managed boutique wineries and craft beer companies.
Q: What did you learn in your first year on the job?
A: The first year on the job is a whirlwind of learning. I learned a ton of very practical things, like best practices for slide design, efficient Excel modeling, and a host of keyboard shortcuts to help me fly through my work. But the softer skills were the more interesting and less expected, like how to handle delicate situations with clients, how to craft an argument to support an unpopular idea, and how to manage my personal needs with the very real demands of the job.
Q: What are you most curious about?
A: I'm curious about how people spend their free time in search of enjoyment. Be it travel, shopping, or indulging in delicious things, I'm fascinated by the choices we all make in pursuit of our very personal happiness. That's part of the reason why my time at BCG is so fulfilling: I'm given the opportunity to interact with and influence the brands, products, and experiences that are sought out for relaxation and enjoyment.
Q: What opportunities are you excited about at BCG and beyond? What are your long-term career goals?
A: Long term, I know I'll answer the entrepreneurial siren song. Thankfully, my time at BCG is continually helping to shape me into a leader who can make informed decisions, identify sustainable trends, and shape products and experiences that consumers will love.
