At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Vít has the courage to take action.
I like one quote from Warren Buffet as it represents success in my eyes: "In the world of business, the people who are most successful are those who are doing what they love."
My background is a path from technical studies and technologies to business, entrepreneurship, economy, and finance. I do believe that business, as well as science, consists of interconnections. Understanding these interconnections provides complex knowledge and enables us to develop the world around us. That is the reason why I appreciate the opportunity to explore business every day.
As a global consulting company, BCG offers an infinite pool of knowledge, which cannot be covered by a single individual. That is the reason why open teamwork in a supportive and an inspiring environment is one of the three key opportunities that BCG has given me. The second and the most valuable one to me is the chance to start my professional development from the level where I stopped in my previous career. Last but not least, BCG offers the opportunity to be a part of business leadership. Regardless of your tenure at BCG, you are engaged in influencing the global business environment.
Vít holds a double master’s degree in civil and structural engineering as well as management and entrepreneurship from the Czech Technical University in Prague and the University of Economics in Prague.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: There are numerous reasons why I like consulting in particular and why I prefer it over other career choices. The exploring of various industries and understanding of broad problems provide opportunity for the continuous development of every individual. When you are given responsibility for certain parts of a project, you have the opportunity to change something and come up with innovative solutions that deliver real impact. This fact, in combination with the opportunity to learn from business leaders and understand a variety of industries, widens your own knowledge base, which is the highest value for future success in the current business world.
Q: What’s the biggest impact you have had with your work?
A: In my first project in BCG, I was working on the due diligence of a key market player in the financial sector. I realized that the project and our final recommendations had the potential to change the local sector and nationwide competitive dynamics. Since the buyer wanted to succeed and change the company, I quickly noticed how powerful consulting could be and what it would mean to explore real issues in the company and enable change in the entire market. That’s what delivering real value means to me.
Q: What opportunities are you excited about at BCG and beyond? What are your long-term goals?
A: BCG offers a broad variety of opportunities, such as networking, international experience, leadership, and problem solving. However, the most valuable one for me is understanding the big picture. Fast changes on the global business scene require proactive and predictive reactions, with an understanding of consequences and a vision for the future. My long-term career goal is to be a leader with a unique vision who can make real business change happen.
