Wendy Is a Transformative Storyteller

Partner & Managing Director, Sydney

At BCG, Storytellers synthesize complex information and ideas. They believe in bringing the whole team together to get a broader perspective. Wendy seeks a new perspective.

There is no fixed path for a career at BCG. Be curious, take advantage of every opportunity, and see where it takes you.

In Wendy’s Words

My background is in urban planning and sustainability. I joined BCG to broaden my horizons, and I haven’t been disappointed. I’ve had exposure to many sectors—from wealth management to agriculture—on projects ranging from growth strategies to leadership development to operational efficiency.

After a couple of years at BCG, I followed one of my favorite BCG partners to a large real estate company. It was great to apply my consulting skills in a different context and learn a lot about how to make things happen in the “real world.” The lure of amazing people and projects brought me back to BCG and I’m now into my second BCG career. BCG continually challenges me to do things I never imagined, but for me it is the people that make it such a special place.

About Wendy

Wendy holds a bachelor of town planning (University Medal) from the University of New South Wales (Australia), a master of science from Lund University (Sweden), and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?

A: I interviewed with other consulting companies, but BCG always felt like home. I knew I belonged here from my first day. BCGers are incredibly humble and generous. They will always go out of their way to help and support you in any way they can.

Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?

A: There are two things that are really important to me—family and staying healthy. Early mornings are devoted to yoga and running; weekends are for having lots of fun with my husband and young daughters.

Q: Why is BCG a good place for a woman to work?

A: BCG is very supportive of women at all levels. In my experience, balancing work and other commitments gets much harder when you have children. One of the key factors in my decision to return to BCG was the level of commitment to finding ways to make a BCG career possible for everyone. There are some great BCG role models who demonstrate that you can have a fulfilling work and family life.
