BCG Unveils First Dedicated Climate and Sustainability Hub in Asia

The hub, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, will pave the way towards transforming BCG’s commitments into climate action, to build a more sustainable future in Singapore and the region

SingaporeBoston Consulting Group (BCG) today announced the launch of BCG’s first dedicated climate and sustainability hub in the region, the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia.

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), BCG’s Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia was officially launched at BCG Singapore by Ms. Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Neeraj Aggarwal, Chairman of BCG Asia-Pacific, and Jaime Ruiz-Cabrero, Head of BCG South East Asia.

Adopting a multifaceted approach, the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia covers four key, distinct strategic areas:

  • Powering green ventures and investments: Partnering with corporates to invest in, co-build, and scale sustainable businesses through BCG Green Ventures, thereby accelerating climate action through innovation that creates value for both shareholders and society.
  • Building cutting edge capabilities: Scaling the hub quickly by bringing climate experts on the ground to deliver deep technical cutting-edge capabilities and tailored solutions.
  • Enriching partnerships to maximize impact: Maximizing impact through collaboration, by continually building a rich ecosystem of partnerships and collaborations.
  • Enhancing skillsets for tomorrow: Supporting climate and sustainability talent development locally and in the region through upskilling, enablement, and partnerships with local academic institutions.

“BCG is a leading voice in sustainability and climate change, and it is testament to Singapore’s efforts in this area that BCG has chosen to establish the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia here. As we move towards a greener future under the Singapore Green Plan 2030, the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia will play a pivotal role in our efforts to create new sustainability solutions, develop local talent and foster new partnership opportunities. We look forward to partnering with BCG to transform more commitments into climate action,” said Dawn Lim, Vice President, Commercial and Professional Services, EDB.

“Leveraging Singapore as the hub, the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia brings together the best of BCG's global expertise and offering to the APAC region, to drive climate action and lead change for the future through partnerships and supporting local talent development,” said Neeraj Aggarwal, Chairman of BCG Asia-Pacific. “We are excited to have the support of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment, the Singapore Economic Development Board, and our partners in this journey, as we unlock the next chapter in climate action for the future of Singapore and the region.”

The launch of the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia comes as climate and sustainability issues have reached a tipping point around the world, with global initiatives like the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) becoming a focal point of attention. In Singapore, climate and sustainability similarly ranks high on the agenda for the Singapore Government, with the launch of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 in 2021, and latest developments to raise its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by or around mid-century.

“Climate action is one of the most pressing challenges today, and one that we cannot tackle alone. The launch of the Climate & Sustainability Hub for Innovation in Asia today marks the start of the growing partnerships and collaborations we have in the pipeline for Singapore and the region, and we look forward to building a more sustainable tomorrow in Singapore and Asia-Pacific through focused efforts with our clients and partners,” added Neeraj.
